Tyrese Arrested in Court for Unpaid Child Support

On Sunday, Tyrese Gibson predicted he would be arrested when he arrived for his child support hearing on Monday.

Tyrese, 45, made the prediction days after he vowed to leave social media for good.

“I just released an album that I did not wanna release,” Tyrese said in a livestream video. “And in the morning, I think I’m gonna get arrested in the courtroom. Think I’ma get arrested ’cause they demanded ‘he has to be there in the morning.’ Why are you demanding? My lawyer could’ve went in and represented for me. I’m in the middle of literally a tour to promote [his movie] 1992… It’s just freedom of speech y’all. My first amendment. I can speak on whatever it is I want.”

TMZ confirmed that Tyrese was taken into custody Monday morning for failing to pay court-ordered child support.

The singer/actor was in Fulton County court to face the judge who previously ordered him to pay his ex-wife Samantha Lee $10,000 a month for their 6-year-old daughter Soraya.

Tyrese was supposed to begin paying his child support in April. Additionally, he was ordered to pay legal fees and court costs to Samantha.

Tyrese didn’t pay a dime.

Before he was taken to the Fulton County Jail, the judge said Tyrese can get out of jail if he pays $73,000, including $7,500 for attorney’s fees.

Samantha’s attorney previously complained to the judge that Tyrese didn’t pay $5,000 in attorney’s fees.

Tyrese addressed the legal fees in a livestream video on Instagram Sunday night. He suggested that Samantha’s lawyer was attracted to Samantha, because he only charged her $5,000 in 4 years.

“Maybe you’re attracted to her. I mean, she is beautiful,” Tyrese said. “Maybe you’re representing this woman for free because she’s got baby hairs. She shows up to court really nice. She’s in the gym, she’s got her matching shoes with the handbag. Baby hairs laid, lip gloss poppin’.”

He added: “$5,000 is all you got for the last 4 years of representing a client? That’s crazy.”

According to TMZ, Tyrese is currently reaching out to his deep pocket friends for a loan. He will remain in custody until the money is paid.
